Privacy Policy

Roampurse is an app for iPhone and iPad, with a companion Apple Watch app, made by Rafael Vásquez, an independent developer (“I”, “me”). This page explains, plainly, what happens to your information when you use it.

What stays on your device

Your trips, expenses, budgets, categories, payment methods, the names of the people you travel with, notes, places, tags, receipts, documents and settings are stored on your device. The calculations (what’s left today, conversions, who owes whom) happen on your device. None of it is sent to me or to anyone else, except as described below when you choose iCloud or sharing.

Your private iCloud

If iCloud is on for Roampurse, your data is backed up and kept in sync in your private iCloud database, using Apple’s CloudKit. That’s how your trips come back on a new iPhone and appear on your iPad. This storage belongs to your Apple Account and is covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy. I have no access to it. If iCloud is off, your data stays only on the device.

Sharing a trip

If you invite people to a trip, Apple’s iCloud sharing makes that trip, and only that trip, visible and editable to the people you invite, on their devices and in their iCloud. They see what’s on that trip: its expenses, notes, receipts and balances. You can stop sharing at any time; people you invited can leave. Other trips are never shared.

Exchange rates

To get fresh rates, the app downloads the published rate tables straight from the European Central Bank (ecb.europa.eu) and the National Bank of Poland (api.nbp.pl), at most once a day. The request carries nothing about you or your trips. Like any website you visit, those servers see your device’s IP address and a standard request; their own privacy notices apply. You can limit downloads to Wi‑Fi in Settings › Exchange rates.

Receipts, documents and scanning

Photos, scans and PDFs you attach are stored with your data (on your device and, if it’s on, in your iCloud). When Roampurse reads the total, date or store from a receipt, or reads a bank statement you import, it does so on your device with Apple’s text recognition. Typing an expense in your own words (“38 euros dinner with Ana yesterday”) is also understood on your device. Nothing is sent to me or to an AI service.

Location (optional)

Roampurse never needs your location. If you allow it, the app uses your location while you’re using it to suggest the local currency and, if you choose, to save the place with an expense so it can appear on your trip’s map. The saved place stays with that expense in your data. It isn’t sent to me. You can turn location off at any time in Settings on your device. Without it, the app can still suggest a currency from your phone’s time zone, which needs no permission.

Face ID (optional)

If you turn on the Face ID lock, iOS checks your face and tells Roampurse only whether it matched. The app never sees your face or any face data.

Notifications

Reminders, repeating-expense alerts, the notice before a travel pass ends and rate updates are created on your device. There’s no push server of mine.

Widgets, Siri and Apple Watch

Widgets, the Dynamic Island and Siri read a small summary saved on your device, in space shared only with Roampurse’s own extensions. When you talk to Siri, Apple processes the request under its own policy; Roampurse receives only what’s needed, such as the amount and category. Your iPhone and Apple Watch exchange data directly with Apple’s Watch Connectivity, between your own devices.

Purchases

Pro is sold through the App Store and handled by Apple with StoreKit. I never see your name, email or payment details. The app only asks Apple whether your Apple Account has an active purchase. The end date of a travel pass is saved in your iCloud so it shows on your other devices.

Things you choose to send

When you export, share a trip summary, send a balance by message, or open a payment app such as PayPal or Venmo with an amount filled in, the information goes only where you send it, through the share sheet or that app, and that service’s own privacy policy applies. A budget template link carries only a currency, a number of days, category amounts and an optional title and country: no names, dates or receipts.

No ads, no analytics, no tracking

Roampurse contains no advertising, analytics or tracking code, no third-party SDKs that collect data, and makes no network connections other than the ones on this page (rates, iCloud, the App Store, and links you open). If you’ve chosen in iOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may send me anonymous crash reports; you control that in your device’s Privacy settings.

This website

roampurse.com is a static site hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies and has no analytics, ads or trackers. Like any host, Cloudflare processes your IP address to deliver the pages; see Cloudflare’s Privacy Policy. On template pages, the budget sits after the “#” in the link. Browsers don’t send that part to the server, so it’s read only in your browser.

Keeping and deleting your data

Deleted expenses and trips go to Recently Deleted and are removed for good after 30 days. Deleting the app removes the data on that device. To remove the iCloud copy too, delete Roampurse’s data from your iCloud storage settings on your device. Because I hold none of your data, there’s nothing for me to delete on my side, but I’m happy to help you do it.

Email

If you write to support@roampurse.com, I receive your email address and your message. I use them only to answer you, and I don’t share them.

Children

Roampurse collects no personal data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes (for example, if a new feature needs to send data somewhere), I’ll update this page and its date before that version of the app is released.
